August, 2011 Dance Night Schedule

August 17 – Free shag lessons at 6:45 with Dale and Harriett.  It’s too hot to do anything else, so you might as well come dance with us!  Tom Stoiber is in the house and will be playing the best swing music around!

August 24 –  Don’t miss out on the free shag lesson with Dale and Harriett at 6:45!  DJ’s Diane & Jerry will be playing your favorite swing tunes.

August 31 – It’s the fifth Wednesday of the month, which means that DJ K-Mac (Kevin McDeed) will be back!  It’s still hot so if you’re going to sweat, you might as well do it for a good reason – like DANCING with us!  We start at 7:30 but it doesn’t hurt to get there early and grab some dinner and/or a good table.

July 6 – No lessons tonight but we ARE celebrating the 4th of July (only 2 days late)!  How do we celebrate?………  With food, of course!  We’ll have some good old American food, like hamburgers, baked beans and coleslaw with all-American desserts provided by any and all who would like to bring their favorite sweet treats.  Members are $3 as always and non-members pay $7.  Annie is in the DJ booth tonight.

July 13 – Dale and Harriett will continue with a FREE Shag lesson at 6:45.  If you’re just learning Shag, you probably need a refresher and some practice.   Come early and enjoy the Moose’s new restaurant, Big Kahuna.  The food is good and the prices are right.  DJ’s Diane and Jerry will begin spinning the tunes at 7:30 (maybe even earlier)!

July 20 – FREE Shag lesson at 6:45.  Tom Stoiber is back and will be playing all your favorites (as usual)!

July 27 – FREE Shag lesson at 6:45.  And DJ Dennis is in the house!  Why not come out and dance with us?  Do you have something better to do than dance the night away??????

June 1 – Beginner Shag Lessons start at 6:45 tonight with Dale and Harriett!  DJ Annie will be playing all our favorite tunes.

June 8 – Continuing with beginner Shag Lesson at 6:45 with Dale and Harriett.  Regular dance music begins at 7:30 with Diane & Jerry playing a mix of beach, shag, east and west coast swing music.

June 15 – Yes, our 13th Anniversary Party is finally here and we are definitely

“PUTTIN’ ON THE RITZ” !

Join us at 7:00 p.m. for cocktail “hour” (til 7:30).  Regular music will begin at 7:30 with Tom Stoiber in the DJ booth.  At approximately 8:00 p.m., you will be treated to elegant hors d’oeuvres and champagne.  Be sure to wear your finest black and or white evening attire.

Charge for non DBB members is $10.

June 22 – If you took a Shag Lesson on June 1 or June 8th, be sure to come back (at 6:45) and continue with a 2nd or 3rd lesson.  Remember, you can’t learn any dance in just one or two (or three or even ten) easy lessons.  It takes commitment, repetition and practice!  Dennis will be playing the tunes this evening.

June 29 – Dale and Harriett will continue with beginner Shag Lessons at 6:45. Hope to see YOU there!  DJ is TBD.

May 11 - We’ll pick back up with basic and semi-intermediate West Coast lessons at 6:45.  D&J, the DJ’s (a.k.a. Diane & Jerry) will be spinning the iTunes with lots of beach, East Coast, West Coast and Shag music.

May 18 – Continuing with West Coast lessons at 6:45.  Tom Stoiber will be our esteemed DJ for the evening.

May 25 – This will be the last West Coast lesson for a few months as Dale & Harriett will be offering Shag lessons in June.

In an effort to honor our troops and those who paid the ultimate sacrifice as well as celebrating our country’s recent victory of eliminating our #1 enemy, we’re having a pre-Memorial Day party.  What better way to celebrate than to wear red, white and blue, and of course, eat PIZZA!

IT IS TIME FOR OUR 13TH ANNIVERSARY DANCE!

OUR THEME THIS YEAR IS………….

“PUTTIN’ ON THE RITZ”

So you guessed it…..it is Black Tie…and the color theme is…..Black & White.

Cocktail “hour” will be from 7:00 to 7:30 and the regular music will begin at 7:30.  Butler-served appetizers and champagne will be served at 8:00.

Whatever you do, do not miss this elegant event!!

April 6 – No lessons tonight due to Board Meeting.  Don’t let all the recent rains keep you on the couch.  DJ Annie will be spinning the tunes so come out and dance the night away!

April 13 – We’ll continue lessons at 6:45 with some basic West Coast moves.  If you were there last month, be sure to attend as continuity and practice is the best way to improve your dancing skills.  Diane & Jerry will be taking care of the tunes for you.

April 20 – Basic West Coast lessons at 6:45 – BE THERE!  Tom Stoiber will be playing some great music (as usual)!

April 27 – MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Tonight we are dancing to live music, provided by the ‘Malt Shop Memories’.  This group will perform and play Doo-Wop Rock & Roll music for us from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.  Cost is ONLY $3 for members and $10 for guests. This is sure to be a fantastic event – DO NOT MISS IT!!!  (No lessons tonight).
